How it works

  1. Tell us about your book

    Send your manuscript and the stores you plan to sell through. A Word file is ideal, but a clean PDF works too. We’ll review it and confirm a quote and timeline.

  2. Personalize your design

    We agree on the text styling: chapter headings, drop caps, scene breaks, and how images and footnotes should behave. Share an ebook you like, or ask us to suggest a direction.

  3. See a sample first

    We convert a sample chapter so you can open it in an ebook reader and try different font sizes and settings before we do the rest.

  4. We format the interior

    Once you approve the sample, we build the full EPUB, with its linked table of contents, navigation, images, and working links.

  5. Review, revise, deliver

    You review the finished ebook and we make revisions. We check it with EPUBCheck and preview it in Kindle Previewer before delivery.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between EPUB and Kindle?
Less than there used to be. EPUB is the open industry standard, and Amazon now accepts and recommends it for Kindle as well, so one well-built EPUB works across Kindle, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play, B&N, and Draft2Digital. We deliver EPUB as standard, and can also provide a Kindle-specific KPF on request.
How long does it take?
Most ebooks are ready in 1-2 weeks from when you send the final manuscript. Books with lots of images, tables, or footnotes can take longer. If you have a launch date, tell us when you get in touch and we’ll try to work with it.
Can you convert from a print PDF?
Yes, as long as it’s an un-scanned PDF (exported from Word or InDesign, not OCR’d from a printed book). A clean PDF or a Word document both work fine, so whichever is easier for you.
Will my ebook look the same on every device?
Not pixel for pixel, and that’s by design. A standard ebook is reflowable, which means the reader can set their own font, size, and spacing, and the file adapts to each screen. What we control is the structure underneath, such as clean headings, a working table of contents, and links that work, so it reads well however the reader sets things up. The exception is fixed-layout, where the page is locked in place like a PDF. That’s what we use for children’s picture books and other heavily illustrated titles, where the text needs to stay exactly where it sits on the art.
Do you do fixed-layout ebooks?

Can I get a Kindle KPF or .mobi file?
Yes, on request. Most authors don’t need either: KDP accepts EPUB directly, so one EPUB covers Kindle and the other stores. KPF is Amazon’s own Kindle format, which some authors prefer to upload. KDP stopped accepting .mobi for reflowable ebooks in August 2021 and for fixed-layout ebooks in March 2025, but we can still make one if you need a copy for an older Kindle e-reader.
Do I need an ISBN for my ebook?
Not for Kindle. Amazon gives every Kindle ebook its own identifier, an ASIN, so you don’t need to buy an ISBN to publish there. Some other stores and distributors ask for one. Each format needs its own ISBN, so your ebook can’t share the paperback’s number. If you supply one, we’ll place it on the copyright page.
